Bonfire night is one of my favourite times of year. Growing up, we’d always wrap up warm, wear all the layers and head out to bonfire night. Our local village had a big bonfire parade and was always one of the highlights of the year.
With this month’s cake subscription box falling around the 5th November, I couldn’t resist doing a bonfire night themed box. Packed full of winter-warming flavours and bonfire treats.
S’mores are one of those real treats at a campfire. A perfect mix of biscuits, chocolate and marshmallows. These brownies are a nod to s’mores, and the most perfect bonfire treat. My signature chocolate brownie recipe is swirled with marshmallow fluff, topped with crushed chocolate digestives and dark chocolate chips. They’re all the taste of a s’more in brownie form and have been made a firm favourite by lots of subscribers.
Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake
There’s not much better than a steaming bowl of pudding after a cold evening out. This sticky toffee pudding cake may not be a warm dessert, but it’s all the taste of sticky toffee pudding in cake form. It’s one of my absolute favourites, and one of those cakes people always ask for. Warmly spiced sponge, made with golden syrup, black treacle and chopped dates. Topped with sticky toffee buttercream, which is made using sticky toffee sauce. I had so much lovely feedback about this in the cake subscriptions and I’m so glad people loved it.
It’s taken a while to work out how to get cake slices back into the boxes since the packaging change, but now I’ve worked it out – expect lots of lovely cake slices in the months to come.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Crunchie Cookies
Cinder toffee is always something I’ve associated with bonfire night and crunchies are one of the best chocolates there are. As a standard crunchie wouldn’t work in these cookies, I chose to use Cadbury Dairy Milk with Crunchie bits which worked perfectly. The cookies are filled with big chunks of chocolate, with a real honeycomb hint.
December’s Cake Subscription Box
If you love the sound of this box, you’ll love what’s to come in December’s cake subscription box. It will be another box of indulgent sweet treats, including some Christmas flavours and chocolates. Don’t worry though, there won’t be any Christmas cake or mince pies involved so if you’re not a fan of raisins, you’re all good!
The boxes will be heading out on the 2nd December, and you can order up until the 29th November. There’s options for everyone, so whether you’d like to try December’s box as a one-off, order a block of months or sign up to receive month after month.
